Enterprise Ireland (EI) / Ireland

Enterprise Ireland has been operating as an agency of the Irish Ministry of Enterprise, Trade and Employment since July 1998. Its task is to implement government policy in the areas of technology, trade and enterprise development. The mission of Enterprise Ireland is to accelerate Ireland’s national and regional development by working with Irish companies so that they can grow in world markets.

Three core issues on Enterprise Ireland’s agenda are: technology innovation, business development, and internationalisation. Through its business development support Enterprise Ireland’s strategy is to bridge the gap between innovation and internationalisation. Enterprise Ireland staff work with the research community and with companies to exploit the benefits of technology innovation and to grow export business.

Enterprise Ireland, and the agencies which were merged to form Enterprise Ireland, has managed research, development and innovation programmes on behalf of the Ministry of Enterprise Trade and Employment for almost 30 years. The organisation thus has considerable expertise in the promotion and management of research, development and innovation programmes in the universities, research centres, and in companies.

Enterprise Ireland has been involved in the promotion of all Framework Programmes to Irish organisations and has assisted their involvement in these programmes. Currently Enterprise Ireland manages the National Contact Point Centre (NCP) for Ireland and also hosts the Innovation Relay Centre. Staff of Enterprise Ireland have, on behalf of the Ministry, been national delegates to many of the specific programmes of the Framework Programme.
