ENEA

ENEA is a Government Agency operating in the fields of new technology, energy and the environment. Its mission consists in R&D activities aimed at promoting sustainable economic growth, industrial competitiveness, job creation and environmental protection. ENEA also operates on behalf of Public Administrations on a national and regional level, providing advanced expertise and support.

In this framework, the Unit named UDA has two main tasks:

to assist Central and Regional Administrations in the definition and implementation of policies, legislation and programmes in the fields of industrial innovation and technology transfer;

to support innovation processes in the productive system, particularly for small and medium sized enterprises, in accordance with sustainable development principles.

In the last two decades, ENEA UDA has gained a unique experience in the management of European, national and regional projects, Special Actions promoted by the EC and by the Ministry of Research, Global Grants funded by Structural Funds and/or regional Governments. These actions have included: awareness activities addressing the target companies, issue of calls for proposals, evaluation of the presented projects, monitoring, payments, assessment and diffusion of the results.

Starting from its relevant experience, ENEA UDA has widened its intervention field to include the support to the creation and the development of technology-based enterprises aimed at exploiting high industrial potential research results in a number of fields such as: ICT, automation, biomed, agro-biotech, ...

In this context, within national support schemes, ENEA actively collaborates with other Italian institutions to offer advanced services: technological assistance, assistance in business management and administration, identification of funding opportunities, assistance in search for private investors, IPR, search for industrial/commercial partners.

Side objectives of these activities are:

• setting up and diffusion of best practice among Italian incubators and institutions;
• development of collaborations and networking at a European level on these items.
