VDI/VDE-IT
VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH is an organisation set up by two of the largest European professional associations for engineers (VDI = Association of German Engineers and VDE = Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies). The company’s primary objectives are to promote R&D mainly in the area of information technologies, to assist governmental authorities in developing and analysing instruments and initiatives for the diffusion of technologies, in particular in developing initiatives for accelerating technological development and to speed up product and process innovation in SMEs.
VDI/VDE-IT is closely involved in technology policy development of federal and regional ministries in Germany. It participates in the design and is responsible for the implementation and management of R&D and innovation support programmes launched by national and regional governments, e.g. the SME-Research co-operation programme InnoNet on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Labour.
VDI/VDE-IT has extensive experience of European programmes, having led and participated in many projects funded by the European Union’s Framework Programme as well as projects funded under the Structural Funds. VDI/VDE-IT also manages the Innovation Relay Centre (IRC) for North Germany.
